It's WONDER Wednesday!

This week's WONDER is the good old Midwestern adage. We may have heard these short sayings sprinkled in the speech of our grandparents. Many persist today and reflect our place–its past, present, and future. Here are a few that pop up in the summertime. Add your own in the comments!

• KNEE HIGH BY THE 4TH OF JULY.
  That's the goal for corn crops! Just ask Bill's Farm Market.

• LEAVES OF 3, LET IT BE.
  Better safe than sorry. Could be poison ivy! Take a foraging class through North Central Michigan College's Lifelong Learning Institute and be sure!

• DOG DAYS OF SUMMER.
  Sirius (the dog star) shows up in the night sky this time of year. Take it in at the Headlands International Dark Sky Park.
